Our feelings for Federline

With his notorious Nationwide Insurance ad already leaked to the internet, I’ve been examining my very complicated relationship with the world’s most famous kept boy. When he married Britney Spears, I loathed him. (Couldn’t she have done just a tiny bit better? Even marrying Aaron Carter would have been less painful for me.) But then after she had cruelly used him as a stud service and so publicly dismissed him, I felt sorry for the guy. But then when he kept cashing in with “concert” appearances, he made my skin crawl. But then when Britney proved to be such a trashtastic mother, I had to admit that he may be his kids’ only hope.

How do we feel about Federline these days?

And, um, what does he have to do with insurance?

Dear NFL:

Because of your intimidation of a church for it's large screen "SuperBowl Bash" party, I will not be watching Sunday's SuperBowl hence will not be watching the multi-million dollar commercials, and hence will not be buying products advertised during the SuperBowl. I will also not be giving my grandkids any NFL sanctioned jerseys, footballs, or any other trinkets any more.

Churches use the SuperBowl Bash parties as a service to the neighborhoods surrounding them, bringing in viewers who might not even own a TV or if they do certainly cannot enjoy the large screen experience in their opwn homes. Many churches provide food, child care, NFL-sanctioned prizes and more to their neighbors.

And many use videos made by SuperBowl players and other NFL participants to spread the Word of God's love and to let folks know that Christians aren't stodgy old hermits but are also folks who enjoy sports and all the good things in life which ARE God-given. Since both coaches this year are strong Christians who undoubtedly will prep their team members with prayer, I cannot accept any premise other than the NFL doesn't care about it's Christian, Jewish, or any other religious audience who choose to share their sanctuary's big screens with a neighborhood audience.

It's interesting how the NFL and other professional sports are the safe-haven to player misbehavior of every type. The LOVE of money is indeed the root of all evil--so maybe a shrinking viewership will shrink those paychecks as well, and maybe you'll wake up to the fact that some God in their lives would help qwell those demons.

I find it interesting you went after a church, while I'll bet [yes, BET] there are thousands of sports bars showing the SuperBowl outside of your "sanction".

So I'll be sending this to local papers and every other sponsor I can find on your website, starting with Wendy's. Dave, rest his soul, also a strong Christian all his life, would be apalled to see what you are doing.

Did I miss Kfed? I am so disappointed. I'll let the dishes sit in the sink for the rest of the evening. Load that baby later.

FOOTBLOG RESPONDS: I'm pretty sure you missed it, but if you go to youtube.com and search on "super bowl federline," you can relive it, over and over and over . . .
