« Who will be the Lingerie Bowl MVP? | Main | We've got spirit, yes we do! »

Ad champion

MSNBC.com has issued its definitive list of the best Super Bowl ads ever.

(There was also a nice "honorable mention" for last year's Budweiser "Magic Fridge" spot.)

The top 10:

10. Budweiser “Frogs” (1995)
9. Xerox “Monks” (1977)
8. Tabasco “Mosquito” (1998)
7. Electronic Data Systems “Herding Cats” (2000)
6. McDonald’s “The Showdown” (1993 - Michael Jordan and Larry Bird)

5. Monster.com “When I Grow Up …” (1999)
4. Reebok “Terry Tate: Office Linebacker” (2003)
3. E*Trade “Monkey” (2000)
2. Coke “Mean Joe Greene” (1979)
1. Apple “1984” (1984): A jogger representing Apple throws a sledgehammer into a giant Big Brother image representing IBM.

Yes, cats are cute, and monkeys are funny. But am I the only one who still gets nostalgic for the Quizno's screaming hamster spots?

Granted, it didn't make me want to eat at their fine establishment. But I loved those hamsters. I wanted one.
