Jerry Owens cleaned out his locker today after being told he would be waived. It won't be official until Wednesday.

That leaves Dewayne Wise and Brian Anderson in what could be a platoon system in center field to start the season.

The Sox also reassigned relief pitchers, leaving the door open for Mike MacDougal to open the season with the White Sox.

And Jayson Nix will start the season on the disabled list with a right quad injury.

Official release from the Sox:

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Prior to today's spring training game at the Los Angeles Angels, the Chicago White Sox made the following six roster moves:

· Optioned RHP Lance Broadway, RHP Jack Egbert and RHP Jeff Marquez to Class AAA Charlotte;

· Reassigned INF/OF Josh Kroeger and LHP Randy Williams to minor-league camp;

· Placed INF Jayson Nix on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to March 27) with a strained right quadriceps.

With the moves, the White Sox have 27 players remaining in camp: 12 pitchers, three catchers, seven infielders and five outfielders.
