AL Central Watch: July 30 - Inside the White Sox

AL Central Watch: July 30

Here's a quick glance at what's happening around the American League Central.

This is where the Twins sit today: ''We have a chance now for first place and we'll see what happens,'' first baseman Justin Morneau said. ''It's just as big, and it seems like every game the rest of the way on is going to be do or die. And that's the way you want to play.'' As good as they feel about winning four straight -- including the first two of their showdown four-game series with the White Sox -- the Twins are feeling the pain of losing second baseman Alexi Casilla, probably for the rest of the season.

The Tigers acquired Armando Galarraga in February from the Rangers for minor-league first baseman Michael Hernandez, who didn't last long in that organization. For all of the splashy offseason moves made by the Tigers, one of the best that flew under the radar was the deal that landed Galarraga, who improved to 9-4.

Meanwhile, look for the Rays to be very active before the deadline Thursday. They have put the Pirates' Jason Bay at the top of their long wish list.
