2008 was the year of the Rickroll, the internet sensation where those surfing the web are tricked into viewing Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" music video. Rickrolling quickly gained popularity as the online savvy tried to outdo one another, culminating in the Rickrolling of Times Square in New York as Astley's video played on one of the large television screens.
