Yamaguchi wins 'Dancing' coveted trophy

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

As expected, Olympic skater Kristi Yamaguchi took home the mirror-ball trophy for season six of "Dancing With the Stars." I was hoping for an upset, that Jason Taylor might edge her out, but the skater was just too way out in front for anyone to catch her. She did prove herself all season with great dancing, but then dancing is part of what figure skating is all about.

'And then there were two, Part II"

Kristi and Mark pulled off the impossible, a perfect 90 out of 90 in the final three dances in the finale of "Dancing with the Stars." The results, only 20 minutes away (could this night drag on any more?) Jason and Edyta have their work cut out for them.
Stay tuned.

13-year-olds Brandon and Brittany won the first-ever Junior Championship trophy for their spectacular dances performed over the course of the season.

The trophy was presented by three Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders as Brandon remarked during one video montage that the cheerleaders were pretty much the only thing he liked better than ballroom dancing.

Look for this duo (hopefully) in future seasons of "Dancing" as they are as good as many of the pros we've seen in six seasons of the show.

And then there were two...

It came down to Kristi Yamaguchi and Jason Taylor as Cristian de la Fuente was voted off "Dancing with the Stars" tonight in the first round of the elimination. The hunky actor was holding back tears with all his might, but the disappointment was all over his face.

The very sad moment followed a gorgeous guest appearance by Usher, who proved he can dance AND sing most beautifully.

It's only 15 minutes into the excruciating two-hour finale.

'Dancing' marathon unbearable

Can ABC seriously expect viewers to tune in for THREE HOURS tonight for the not-so-hugely anticipated finals? Seriously, do we need a rerun of last night's episode at 7?
In a season that has seen barely a touch of excitement (it pales by comparison to last year), why turn off the remaining faithful with a three-hour tour .... of the ballroom?
Oh well, I'll be there, right up to the final moments.
Stay tuned.

'Dancing' pertty much wrapped up

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Season six of "Dancing with the Stars" comes to an end tomorrow night with Kristi Yamaguchi solidly in the lead, with 60 points out of a possible 60, Cristian with 52 and Jason with 51.
Cheryl had the most gorgeous costume of the night. Jason had the best lifts. But the writing's on the wall, isn't it.

Viewers, it's up to your votes.

'Dancing' finals begin

So it's come down to the final three. Just WHAT is Edyta wearing? And hands down, she did have the best spray-on tan of the season.
But I digress... some early thoughts for tonight...

And how come Cristian could lift his injured left arm straight up above his head to wave to the adoring throngs in the upper deck of the ballroom, when he can barely lift it during routines?

And just why didn't Krisit and Mark reveal their entire 60-second cha-cha routine to the other two couples (as the other two couples revealed theirs)?

Seems the finals are off to a mysterious start.

Those darn kids

That sensational duo of Brandon and Brittany are indeed 13. Thanks for all the cards and letters. Didn't get to post this until today. Sorry for the delay.I still think they shouldn't be competing against those other four adorable moppets. B&B are in a league of their own.
Check out their story:

Cristian a fake? Say it ain't so!

Seems TMZ is floating the "rumor" that Cristian is "faking" his arm injury. See for yourself at

Kristi likely to win that mirrored-ball trophy

| | Comments (1) | TrackBacks (0)

to richieb945,
yep, I do mean "upset" as in Kristi. And here's why. She is a technically great dancer, and that's key here.. she is a dancer, as well as figure skater. No figure skater, especially at the Olympic level, can do what they do without choreography/dance. They choreograph all their skating routines, and if you pay attention to many of the spins, turns, leaps, backbends that the "Dancing" dancers do in the course of a season, they're exactly what you see in the ice skating competitions.

Kristi is light-years beyond anybody else this season when it comes to executing the dance. I think that gave her an unfair advantage from day one, don't you? The whole point of "Dancing," at least the "Dancing" I watched from season one, was to take celebrities/athletes et al who had two left feet when it came to dancing and turn them into television ballroom champs.

Enough with the folks who have dancing already in their blood (Joey Fatone, Drew Lachey, Mel B, Sabrin Bryan, Mario Lopez) They were all exceptional dancers and deserved the accolades they received, don't get me wrong. I want a season of two-left-footed celebrity oafs who go out there and have a blast and really learn the ropes as the season goes on.

Level the playing field already.

Maks is back

That oh so hottie pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy announced on "Good Morning America" that he will indeed be returning to "Dancing with the Stars" next season. The VERY tall dancer (last partnered with Layla Ali) took one season off to pursue other dance avenues in Las Vegas.

The semi-finals tonight were very good, but not great. Very good were Kristi, Jason and Marissa. Very VERY good was Cristian, who with his very injured arm, conjured up one of the most exciting sambas this season. (The samba was THE dance in which he destroyed his left arm, you may recall). Great is the fact that this humdrum season will be over next week.

'Dancing' Katrina just a sore loser?

Seems I wasn't the only one who thought Katrina Smirnoff's eye-rolling during last week's results show showed really unsportsmanlike conduct. Read on at:
http://www.buddytv.com/dancing-with-the-stars.aspx
(great photo too)

She was an abarrassment to the show, to herself and to her partner Mario who oozed class throughout the spectacle.

'Dancing' top ten routines revealed

On the occasion of the 100th episode of "Dancing with the Stars," judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli picked their favorite perfect "30's" from the first five seasons.

Here they are in reverse order:

'Dancing' has a new leader

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Yep, he went from bottom of the barrel to top of the heap.
Cristian de la Fuente, against all odds due to his injured arm, sat solidly atop the leader board tonight with a combined score (after two "one-armed" dances) of 57 points.

Cristian de la Fuente will soldier on

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

E! Online is reporting that Cristián de la Fuente will continue with the show tonight, despite the recent serious injury to the tendon in his left arm.

“This Monday we will be dancing,” de la Fuente said Sunday night at the15th annual Race to Erase MS gala benefiting the Nancy Davis Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis in Los Angeles. “We have the tango and the mambo.”

Even so, de la Fuente will eventually undergo surgery. “They have to reattach the tendon to the bone,” he said. “They put you to sleep, do the surgery and then you have a month and a half recovery.”

Fellow DWTS contestant football star Jason Taylor is lending a hand, too.

“He called the Miami Dolphins, and they sent two braces,” de la Fuente said. “It’s with metal so that helps the arm not move into a direction I don’t want it to.” (Source: E! Online)
