Things were looking dicey for freshman comedy "The Mindy Project" but Mindy Kaling's sitcom has been granted a second season by Fox.
That's good news for fans of the show in general and Chicago comic Ike Barinholtz in particular. Barinholtz, who's also a writer on the show, plays a well-meaning but misguided male nurse on the show.
Two other Tuesday comedies -- "New Girl" and "Raising Hope" -- also will be back for more in the 2013-14 season. They also feature Chicago-area funny guys Jake Johnson and Lamorne Morris on "New Girl" and Lucas Neff on "Raising Hope."
Fox entertainment chair Kevin Reilly also announced Monday that the network's new Kevin Bacon serial killer thriller "The Following" (airing Mondays) has been re-upped for a second season.
