Who saw THIS coming? In an unbelievable turn of events, Shannen Doherty was sent packing on tonight's "Dancing with the Stars" results show. This is just nuts. That means Kate Gosselin and Buzz Aldrin, pretty much the odds-on favorites for a speedy exit, will return to dance another night.
Doherty scored an impressive 20 points Monday night for her playful jive, giving her a two-week total of 38 out of a possible 60 points. That put her "safely" in the middle of the leaderboard pack. But, as this show has proven so many times, those with solid fan bases will eclipse better dancers when it comes to elimination.
The evening started out with complete shock and awe as the first couple slated for possible elimination turned out to be Pamela Anderson and her partner Damian Whitewood. You could have heard a pin drop; even host Tom Bergeron fell silent and "dead air" loomed large for a few seconds that seemed like an eternity. Of course, that was coupled with the news that Buzz Aldrin, who finished last the night before (and the week before that), would be safe to continue on in the competition. The Cloris Leachman effect lives on!
As for tonight's concert performance by the, uhm, "Beach Boys" (or what miserably passes these days for the iconic band), suffice it to say that it was one of the worst live acts ever to play the ballroom. Their off-key solos and off-pitch harmonies were an embarassment. For those of you who don't know who the Beach Boys were, invest in some serious iTunes downloading of "Endless Summer" to wash tonight's horrible music moment out of your mind.
