I was wondering how they'd handle the alleged tension between Simon Cowell and Ellen Degeneres. (There were reports that Simon arrived an hour for the first day of taping, and Ellen insisted they start without him, and then he was disgruntled, and it's just now occurring to me that it could have been Simon behind all the gossip just to boost ratings, because he is an evil genius.)
At any rate, an Everyjudge-looking Ellen arrived in a jeans jacket and said quietly to Simon, "So this is it, huh? I come on, you leave?"
And then they laughed. Tensely.
Already with the funny! Ellen told "Skiibowski," "Sexy and scary, it's a fine line." So true.
Aw, my heart is already broken. Vanessa from Tennessee was sent home after an audition that even I could tell was bad. What a sweet girl. At least she got to ride on an air-o-plane.
What do we think of Ryan Seacrest hovering over the action, whispering hoarsely from the balcony like Batman?
So far, I'm more impressed with the ladies. Haeley Vaughn, who seems to be pioneering black country pop, hit some outrageous notes -- and more important, she's adorable. I also liked Lilly Scott, the one who sang Ella Fitzgerald. With her dyed-white shag, she looked like a negative image of Joan Jett.
I love ellen she is the sugar in the tea of idol. I love her crystal blue eyes, she just makes me feel not so anxious as they are getting to simon.Kara is absolutely useless. She seems to be trying to make up for the sex appeal that paula had,she will never be paula. I was praying that she wouldn't be on this year rrrrrrrrr. I think she is going to hang around like a bad smell. Oh sorry I forgot to mention she needs to go eat something that super skinny, long chin needs some meat on it. She is going to poke someones eyes out with that ugly thing.
I love Love LOVE Ellen. She was funny, honest, witty and gentle. What she said about Skiibowski was true. There is a very fine line between sexy and scary. You're either sexy or your not. Don't try to be sexy because it's just weird, akward and just plain scary.
I didn't like Ellen at all! Not only is she extremely underqualified to be a judge for a voice competition, she is also brutal to the contestants (skiibowski, for example) who are actually very entertaining performers. There were very little comments from her on how the losing contestants can improve, but how could there be? She isn't qualified to comment on what they are doing wrong or could do better. I was interested to see her judge before tonight's show, but wound up being very disappointed in the end.
