'White Collar'
Three stars
9 p.m. Friday on USA
The print ads for "White Collar" don't do star Matthew Bomer justice. He's got light-saber-blue eyes that glow with something intense. Hyper-intelligence? Adventure-lust? Pure bad-boyness? Whatever it is, he's having a heck of a good time in "White Collar."
Like in the movie "Catch Me If You Can," Bomer's character is a master counterfeiter who gives the FBI a run for its (fake) money, and then gets hired by them to help catch other con men.
He has a nice opposites-attract bromance brewing with his FBI supervisor, played by Tim DeKay, who has a little Harrison Ford in him. Not nearly enough, but it's there. They're backed by "Saved by the Bell's" Tiffani Thiessen as the perfect wife, "Sex and the City's" Willie Garson as an underworld connection, and Diahann Carroll as a fabulous - and sympathetic - landlord.
"White Collar" is in the slick tradition of TNT's "Leverage," and USA's "Burn Notice" and "Royal Pains." When the boys team up to bring down fancy criminal types, the dialogue is sharp, the music is snappy and the clothes are snazzy.
I love White Collar! At last a well written comedy/drama that has it all. Matt Bomer is smart, gorgeous and made for the roll. Thank you USA for this great hour of entertainment!
