I'm still watching the reunion -- and dying to know if Coach took the lie detector test Jeff offered him -- but I think the outcome of the Tocantins season was actually sort of ... sweet.
WARNING: Spoilers ahead.
The vote for J.T. was unanimous, and there haven't been many earlier winners as popular. (I still have very fond feelings for Ethan, though.) This season played out like one big "man date" between Stephen and J.T., the city mouse and the country mouse. They dreamed together, they plotted together, they reminisced about the beginnings of their friendship... Yes, Stephen proved to be weaselly at the end, saying he wouldn't take J.T. to the end, but that would have been the smart thing to do. Who cares about the million dollars? I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
(Still would have like to see Taj win, though.)
Haven't we had enough of death-dealing homophobia in America? Stephen deserves a few hugs and kisses, for watching J.T.'s back and getting Tyson out, for reinforcing that they are playing a game, for trying to maintain a sense of fairness.
Bromantic indeed!
What was up with them taking turns putting their hand on the other's leg???? What was that about?
Funny title...bromantic indeed. And as weird as he was, Coach was very entertaining. I did an illustration of him on my blog, been trying to come up with a JT/Stephen one as well.
