'Dancing with the Stars' has stunner of a results show

Just goes to show you... anything can happen in the ballroom.
Case in point: In tonight's elimination round, the setup for next week's semi-finals, it was that super-charged, "Bionic Bootie" herself Lil Kim that wound up exiting the ballroom, instead of the "expected" Ty Murray.

lil kim.jpg

No matter how much Lil Kim shook her "bionic bootie" on Monday night, it wasn't enough to save her from elimination on "Dancing with the Stars."

In an astonishing upset in terms of overall performances up till now (anyone remember Sabrina Bryan's early departure from the ballroom), viewers' votes kept Ty in the running even though he was at the bottom of the leader board Monday night. Lil Kim, who had consistently been in the top five on the leaderboard, was just one notch above Ty after her dismal dancing Monday night. But even the judges' rude comments to Ty couldn't dissuade viewers. Never under-estimate a cowboy with a charming smile!

It's always a bittersweet moment when the show gets to this point and someone is out of the running. I think no one was more stunned than Ty, but I gotta say he has just as much right as anybody else to hold his head up high for the semi-finals round next week. Ty has come a long, long way in this competition, and he has embodied the very essence of the show: He became a ballroom dancer. Go Ty!!!

So here's the set up for next week's semi-finals: Melissa Rycroft and partner Tony Dovolani; Ty Murray and partner Chelsie Hightower; Shawn Johnson and partner Mark Ballas; and Gilles Marini and partner Cheryl Burke. Here's to an exciting night of dancing!

Yeah Ty is this and Ty is that but, THE MAN CANNOT DANCE......In this day and time NOBODY IS A PERFECT ROLE MODEL.....INCLUDING YOU MOM! THAT GIRL SPUN RINGS AROUND TY WITH THE DANCING. THIS SHOW IS BECOMING A JOKE!

Hope Cowboy and all his followers are satisfied!! If Cowboy had ANY Pride, he give it up as he has NO INTEGITY to think he HONESTLY Beat out other these past Two weeks!!! Get it together, wether you're a country person or not, IT'S A DANCE CONTEST-NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Len needs to go to the Old Folks Home 'cause he's stuck in the 50's and his lady counterpart NEEDS GLASSES!!! I don't see her Ass up there on the Floor. The Credibility of the show has lost what Credibility they had left after the previous week. As long as the Producers allow Cowboy's votes to be stuffed, the closer this show is to being Cancelled!!! And along with it goes their Credibility as well. You people that think Cowboy is really that good have a problem. Cowboy couldn't come in 10th Place at alot of Country Dance Clubs and Too Stiff to even think of doing a Line Dance!!!

I love Dancing with the Stars show. Since I am a Ballroom Dancer I enjoy when someone write or talk about Dancing with the Stars.

I am so excited that Ty is still in it! I have to admit that on the first show I couldn't stand how poorly he danced and wanted to see him gone right away (sorry Ty). But then every week he got SO much better and I became so proud of him. True, he is not the best dancer but I really believe that is what this show is about. I believe it's about showing that hard work, determination and a good attitude can bring you far. How boring would the show be if all of the stars were awesome dancers episode one and stayed that way the entire time? Some of the dancers ARE that way and I do find it boring. With that being said I was very sad to see Lil Kim go. Next to Ty she was my favorite and I would rather have seen any of the others go but her. BTW I have never been in to voting but I voted for Ty the last two weeks. I also think the fact that he is still in it is helping the show, not hurting it. Go Ty!!

Im so happy for Ty!!! I think that is what DWTS is all about.. Going into it with no experience and becoming a dancer out of it.. And he has seriously done great and even went out of his comfortzone.. Love ya TY

If the show were a dancing contest, they wouldn't have people call in and vote. It is a popularity contest JUST like American Idol. I am inspired by Ty's values and work ethic; and I'm also encouraged that in this cruel, calloused world people still appreciate those values and embrace them. Ty is the single ONLY reason I watched the show and I couldn't be more pleased and surprised at how far he's come.

Ty's army is a loyal group just like we are loyal to the PBR....we love a competitor. He may not be the "best" dancer, but he is by far the "best" competitor. No whining, just lots of hard work and great attitude. Ty...we all have our fingers on the keys ready to vote next week....keep up the good work. PS: Len and Bruno....just judge, quit the bullying. We ladies dont' get much kick out of booty shaking, unless it is a cute guy.

I wanted to say that my hats off to Ty. He is a good guy who gives it his all every Monday night. I will be thrilled if Tony or Chelsea is crowned the new dance champion. I do not want Giles to get it because all we will hear is how Cheryl Burke is the three time champion. Cheers for Ty and Melissa. You are our hope that the show is for more than the same old ones.

I'm shocked Lil Kim was ousted because she really could dance up a storm. Ty seemed to be preparing himself for a gentlemanly exit, which I really appreciated. Maybe if Lil Kim was Mormon she'd still be in there.

Congrats to Ty, a great achievement -- commiserations to Lil Kim. The judges have a set criteria to judge a dancer by which is 50% of the vote. The other half of the vote is made up of the viewers votes which have no set criteria -- this is usually just who they want to see go through rather than who did the best on the night. Yes, 50% of the vote is largely a popularity contest, and we must also remember that the votes that are counted are only those who vote, not who see the show and make an opinion.

I really liked Lil Kim and was sad to see her go, HOWEVER, I was so embarrased for TY. They more or less spit in his face for winning over lil Kim. Again I remind you I was a Lil Kim fan. Ty dropped his head and my heart broke for him. He has honestly tried the season and did not need the beating he got for winning. Tom Burgeon need to keep his comments to himself and not be aired in live TV. MY whole family thought this was unprofessional and Tom needs to apologize on live TV also! It's only for entertainment! Not WHo wants to be a Millionare!

I was as shocked as everybody but couldn't have been more pleased when Ty was voted on and Kim was booted out. Kim was not the role model I would like for my children. Yes, I know it's about who is the best dancer, but, you have to admit that the voters chose Ty because of who he is and what he stands for. He exemplifies what I'd like to think is the All American icon...hard working, persistant, patient, humble and loves his family. I do believe the judges, especially Len, owes Ty an apology for his rudeness. Len certainly showed no class and his unworthiness to be a judge.

As a once professional dancer I was shocked that L'il Kim was eliminated. She was by far one of the best dancers and by far the best performer. Makes me think either it was rigged or there was some other reason to eliminate her..shock effect perhaps..Certainly made me loose respect for the show.

I hope that someone OTHER than Shawn Johnson wins it all. She is plain and simple annoying. Please America see her for what she is.

Its very diappointing that Lil Kim went home last night. She may not be the best dancer on the show, but she can dance for more better than Ty. DWTS should come up with a better system to vote than leaving it up to the viewers...its obvious now the viewers are blind.

Well...I will no longer rush home to watch DWTS. Every Monday and Tuesday, I would be glued to the tv to watch the show. But since Lil Kim was booted off, I am DONE!!!! As one writer would say,"It was no shock" and you are so right. But this show is based on the best dancers. I would say, she may not had been the"best", but I can say, she danced far more better than the ones left on the show to entertain me. She didnt deserve to be booted off last night. Dancing w/the Stars should come up with a better system to vote, than to leave it up to viewers to vote. Its obvious, the viewers cannot see well.
Sincerely, Very disappointed

Lil'Kim was a great dancer, and her performance has nothing to do with her past behaviour. And actually, her past experiences and perseverance is what makes her exceptional. You couldn't get that positve out from anybody else, and i love her performances.

Like AMERICAN IDOL, this show has become a joke and a hoax.

If the audience reaction was a clue of the general population, last night was the work of some unknown force. Will we ever really know how the public voted? I do know by the judges comments (especially from bitter/envious of others Carrie and oversexed Bruno), Lil' Kim would not be in the finals.

DWTS = DONE WITH THE SHOW

Having missed last night show, I was surprised with the results! I am very happy for Ty, I really enjoy watching him progress each week. The fan votes count! The judges are there to judge on technique. Constructive criticism helps the dancers to understand their weak points & work on them. As for the rude comments by the judges, I couldn't agree more. Please do focus on the technique with your comments, not interject you own feelings on who should stay & who should go when commenting to the dancers. It does demote you & your opinion in my eyes. Best of luck to all the remaining contestants!!

Ty's not a dancer. I'll give anyone who argues that point that. Lil Kim was, however her performance on Monday night was not worthy of the scores that she received. They picked apart her performance and then gave her those scores? Right. The judges want Ty gone that much is clear, but to reward a performance that they had just basically ripped apart with scores that high seemed a bit odd to me. Nobody touched on how awkward Gilles and Melissa's solos were and yet they too got high scores. And while I'm on the subject of Melissa. The judges have twice this season judged for scores, the rehearsal footage of contestants. They were MUCH more favorable for Melissa than Steve-O's when in the same situation. I know it was later on in the season but come on a 21? Everyone has their own thoughts on this season, but Melissa said it best herself when she found out she had to do a solo "I'm not really a celebrity so can I get out of it on a technicality?"

I’m with the Texas bunch. This is supposed to be a Dancing Contest, not a contest about who improves the most, who’s the most masculine, the best roll model, etc. Bottom line is that Ty couldn’t do the Samba and it’s difficult to understand how a contestant who can’t do one or more of the dances can make it as far as the semifinals. In the sprit of the Texas Viewers, I won’t be watching this show anymore either. I too am white and in my 50s. My idea of good music is the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen. As for whether those in the music industry have an advantage in this competition, wasn’t Belinda Carlisle, the lead singer of the The Go Go’s the first one eliminated this season?

I think it's great Ty's still there. Think about it, the judges always come back to the stars who whine "It's all new to me" that that is the shows premis - out of the natural environment and develope dancing skills. Well who on that show embodies that the best right now - Ty. He's new to dancing period, no rythmic traning or acting or anyting that gives the others an edge, he's a lot quieter then all the others, and he's is getting better. Yeah he's not the best dancer but he's done great. Also, I can understand why people like him - quiet, supportive, coyboy and family man (boy next door). You have his original fans, Jewels fans, Chelsy's fans and then the people who like his personality. Not to mention those the judges piss off due to their too negative comments- it's like being mean to someones non bratty little brother. You want to defend him.

I agree with ghr. I prefer to watch Ty work so hard and put on a good show, which is what this is all about. I never before dialed in a vote, but I have for Ty in the last two rounds. And the judges' rude comments are really not welcome by this viewer who is sick and tired of rudeness in the world. I watch the show to feel good and escape, but they are often such a downer.

Please Lil Kim's exit was nothing compared to Sabrina Bryan's early exit.To this day Sabrina's is the most shocking one!!! Everyone knew it was between Ty and Lil Kim this week. Please not shocked at all from Kim getting the boot.

I FEEL HAPPY THAT MELISSA WAS NOT VOTED OFF...I FEEL BAD FOR LIL KIM, BUT SHE IS MORE MUSICALLY INCLINED THAN TY AND THAT PROBABLY WAS WHAT GOT HER KNOCKED OFF..HE HAS COME ALONG WAY FROM DAY 1.. I AM A BIG FAN OF MELISSA AND I HOPE SHE GOES TO THE END!!! SHE DESERVES IT!!!

What? Chelsea's choreography for their dance was screwed up by Ty. He's a good fellow, but not a good dancer. Lil Kim deserved it more than he did even with his improvement. I guess it *does* matter if you vote, huh?

How sad. Looks like the red states WON. The american public would never agree to a convicted felon vs. a good ole cowboy.

I did not appreciate Tom Burgeons' comment to Ty Murray when Lil Kim had to leave. Tom Burgeon needs to keep his hurtful opinions to himself instead of trying to make Ty Murray feel bad about being a good dancer and a favorite with the viewers.

Ty was not a better dancer than Lil Kim; however, he has won more votes because he is a good ol' boy. He is admirable and his character is respectable. I admit that after about the second week of dances, he has been the reason why I rush home to see how he does. I also admit that I didn't like the choice of Lil Kim because of her as a role model. She has since impressed my with her dancing, but I don't like her as a role model. A lot of people love that Ty had started from scratch and is representative of what most of us would be like in this type of competition. The judges will have the final say as to whom they feel should win and popularity won't save a dancer.

I totally agree!! Ty has his own charisma and it's nice having such a masculine form on the dance floor!! Just something about him makes you want more!! Intriguing..

the judges have been trying to get rid of for weeks, and pushing melissa, what ajoke, and now they're paired up against each other next week.

I HAVE TO MAKE A COMMENT THIS SHOW HAS LOST A TON OF FAN FAIR I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE RATING ON THE NEXT FEW SHOWS, WE ALL HAD A WATCH PARTY AND WE NEW KIM WOULD BE IN THE RATING AND FOR THIS SHOCKER WE WILL NO LONGER HOLD WATCH PARTIES WE COULD CARE LESS WO WINS, WE DIDN'T CARE IF SHE DIDN'T WIN THE FINAL BUT SHE DESERVE TO BE THERE GOOD LUCK DWTS YOU HAVE LOST US AS VIEWERS. AND WE ARE WHITE

I agree ghr I think Ty has worked harder than everyone because he has no experience what so ever. Lil Kim is a good dancer because she has had years of practice and training.

To all the people who watch dwts but do not vote... Look what you have done!! We will now miss out on two amazing routines from a hot performer and her golden boy and instead be subjected to a painfully awkward, self-conscious attempt at dance from a oblivious cowboy. UGH!!!

The public loves Ty. He is so unassuming and he acknowledges he is out of his league, but like any good bull rider he hangs on for all he's got. The public loves his attitude. Get ready for a shocker next week too! Gilles is the best dancer.

Unfortunatly, Lil Kim who is obviously the better dancer didn't get the votes but that just goes to show you that people don't vote for the dancer with better skills. I don't plan on watching it anymore.

Need to eliminate Melissa she's not all that good and giggling the butt is not dancing..let's all watch Patrick Swayze now that is what you call dancing!

i'm sorry but Ty needs to go home. This show is about dancing and obviously Ty doesn't have the moves. I'm shocked that he's still in the running. This show is very disappointing :-(

I was not surprised or shocked. There were some good moves and choreography in Ty's dance that the judges completely ignored. Overall, Lil Kim is obviously a better dancer, but sometimes who the viewer likes to watch dance is not always the best dancer.

Lmfao, obviously this article is biased. And no, no Ty Murray does not have "just as much right as anybody else" to be in the semi-finals. Lil' Kim could dance circles around Ty and everybody knows it. People only talk about "how far hes come" because they need something to make up for his mediocre dancing.
