Melissa Rycroft survives 'Ballroom' elimination

I had three words for tonight's results show: What a crock!

Excuse me, but if Melissa Rycroft has a fractured rib, does she really think she can continue to dance, especially VERY physical dances such as the jive or the Lindy Hop or the cha cha? Well, I guess we'll all see next week, as viewers' votes sent Chuck Wicks packing and kept Melissa around to dance another day. There were noticeable boos in the ballroom and with good reason. It's terrible that the dancers are injured, but if her fracture is as bad as she kept saying it was, does she really expect to out-dance Lil Kim? Gilles Marini?

Not that I've been a huge Chuck Wicks fan this season, but he had really improved the past few weeks. And honestly, if Melissa re-injures herself during this week's rehearsal and has to go home, then Chuck was sent packing for no reason. I wish injured dancers, I mean dancers with injuries that could severely impact their performances, would just pack up their dancing shoes and leave with grace.

At the other end of the emotional spectrum, I was over the moon when Ty Murray got the green light to continue on in the competition next week!!! Take THAT Len Goodman! The fiesty cowboy will not win this season's competition, but he has beaten the odds like nobody's business. And I want to see if he can achieve a darker spray-on tan than Edyta, so he HAS to hang on for another week.

In the "new pro" competition, here's hoping that statuesque Mayo is the winner when all is said and done. He is a breath of fresh air in terms of the male professional dancers we've come to know and love. He just has a different style, stature (he's a tall one, for sure) and moves like no other guy I've seen in all the seasons of "Dancing."

Miriam,
I hate to say I told you so, but I TOLD YOU SO!!!!
ROCK ON MELISSA!!

I'm so glad Melissa is still in the competition. She has been my favorite since the first show. She is an amazing dancer. Her rehearsal dance was even good, so you know that doing it all out would have been fantastic.

Chuck only had the last two weeks good, so not sad to see him go. I was surprised that Ty is still there. I think he or Shawn or Lil Kim should go next week.

I hope Melissa wins overall. Go Melissa!!!!

Lil Kim doesn't compare to Chuck Wicks and all the
others that are still remaining. I have a feeling the winner will probably be Gilles, but I too am rooting for Melissa. I think she outshines them all! Shawn is great too and Ty has improved sooooo much! This has been a season full of talent, but if Lil Kim winds up winning, it will be my last season for watching.

Sounds like we got ourselves a rivalry. I love it!! This is almost as intense as college football. Who will get the BCS bid. I'm for Melissa all the way...but I don't think the Rose Bowl would be a good fit for her...more like the Suger Bowl.
I agree it's going to be tough all the way down to the wire. There is going to be some suprising upsets too, I'd bet. We shall see.

Miriam,
Please don't take my remarks about your article as a personal insult to you. You are a reporter and you are doing your job. I agree a rib(s) injury is nothing to ignore. It could get worse and even puncture a lung creating more problems. However having said that, I have never seen such a strong fighting spirit to win as I do in Melissa. When she got the word to go on DWTS she only had 48 hours to practice and when it was her turn to dance for the first time she wowed the contry. She's the best dancer out there by far. If she were to leave the contest due to injury than the winner would have won by default. I know that she's busy with getting healthy and practice; I hope that she reads this and she knows that we are pulling for her all the way and that we believe in her. Don't quit Melissa...Fight on!
Miriam..we could make this intresting. If Melissa wins it all you have to write an apology eating your words. If she gets beat out..I'll send you a gift certificate to a steakhouse. What do you say...Game on?

Melissa rocks! She absolutely deserves to be there!! :-) It's up to her to decide if she can go on. She has worked hard, and deserves to be there! GO MELISSA AND TONY!

Shocked, to say the least! However I and other fans are not voting for Melissa "out of sympathy" as someone said, I am voting for her for her performances! From the get go she has proven to be an excellent dancer and Chuck and Julianne were getting much better but as Len said and I don't always agree with him; however, this time he was right to say that based on past performances, Melissa should stay, one little injury should not have forced her off the show, unless she made the decision to leave! Besides that, lets face it here, both Melissa and Julianne and very good lookin' women so it would be hard to see either of them go!! I am still voting for Melissa all the way down to the end!!

Sorry Andy, I couldn't disagree more.

This may be "reality" TV, but it's also a competition reality TV show. And in competition, you have to be ready when it's your turn to go. Serena Williams doesn't get a pass on her semi-final match because of an injury ... Idol contestants don’t get a pass if they have the flu or get laryngitis ... Survivor contestants don't get a pass because they fall into the fire and burn themselves ... If this really is a true competition and not a predetermined event, then you have to be ready to go at competition time. It may be sad, it may be unfortunate, but even when you are a "favorite" to win you should be out if you're not ready come game time. (And to that, can someone explain why if she had a rib injury was she practicing without some sort of wrap or other protection? That's just inviting further injury, which is exactly what happened.)

I think it should be up to the dancers to make the decision of staying or leaving. Melissa is a wonderful person and a great dancer. If she feels she can dance with her injuries than god bless her! She's amazing! She can surely outdance lil Kim and anyone else on that stage!

I think that you are very wrong and it should be up to the dancers to make the decision of staying or leaving. Melissa is a wonderful person and a great dancer. I TOTALLY agree with "Andy"!!! Melissa DOES belong in this contest!!! She has out performed Chuck Wicks on every dance this season, she has put Chuck Wicks to shame!!! Melissa, keep going girlfriend, you and Tony have my votes!!!!

HAIRLINE fracture. I agree with Andy, fight on Melissa!!!

Lil Kim is horrid. I don't understand why anyone is voting for her. She should have never been able to dance on the show.

To the gifted author of this uneducated article. Melissa Rycroft belongs in this contest and she and Tony aren't finshed yet! I believe the BEST is yet to come. Fight on Melissa!!
