Get ready: they're making a "High School Musical 4"!

But wait -- before you crease your Zac Efron posters again ... this installment in the hit TV-to-movies franchise is (a) back on TV and (b) probably won't star any of the first three movies' hotties ...

From Disney Channel:

East meets West in a classic love triangle set against the cross-town school rivalry between the East High Wildcats and West High Knights, in "High School Musical 4," the fourth story in the celebrated franchise that became a cultural sensation, fueled unprecedented digital music downloads and underscored the strength of Disney Channel and Radio Disney's connection to kids, tweens and families. "High School Musical 4" brings the franchise back to television in a music and dance-filled Disney Channel Original Movie that will introduce a new cast of characters. It is scheduled to begin production later this year for premiere on Disney Channel in 2010. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, Disney Channels Worldwide. Marsh said: "The 'High School Musical' trilogy introduced a new generation to the celebrated genre of movie musicals. In crafting this next iteration, we've challenged the entire creative team to raise the bar again -- and create something truly worthy of this extraordinary global phenomenon." The screenwriter of "High School Musical 4" is Peter Barsocchini who wrote each of the three movies in the franchise. Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush return as the executive producers.

I can’t believe that they are making another high school musical. It is a stupid and ridicules story. I will admit I have seen the first two movies but it was because I had nothing else to do and I thought it was a pointless movie. Yet sadly I saw the second one. To make it on the big screen was sad. And now they are making a fourth movie? I bet you what you want that they will end up druggies and porn characters soon. This gig will soon very soon will die out. It will get old like everything else does. And if they are going to have new actors? That is going to kill their fans interest. Well it’s all my opinion. So if you like it go right a head. But I’m not!
