An ABC representative declined comment.

Entertainment Weekly magazine first reported news of Knight's request Tuesday in a posting at Writer Michael Ausiello quoted a person at ABC who was not identified as saying that the show and "Grey's" creator Shonda Rhimes were prepared to let the 35-year-old actor go.
