HBO has bought the U.S. rights to a behind-the-scenes documentary on Barack Obama's presidential campaign from actor Edward Norton's production company.

Filming will continue through the president-elect's inauguration, with the premiere expected sometime in the spring, the network said Friday. HBO reportedly paid at least $1 million to show the still-untitled film.

Director Amy Rice, working for Norton's Class 5 Films, had contacted Obama about a potential documentary even before he decided to run for president, HBO said. When Obama started his campaign and it became a success, Rice and fellow director Alicia Sams found themselves in the right place at the right time.

Over 2-1/2 years, the filmmakers had ''unprecedented'' access to the candidate, his family, friend and campaign volunteers, HBO said. Sam Pollard, editor of HBO's ''When the Levees Broke,'' has been hired as film editor.

Congratulations President-elect Barack Obama
By Vince Sanders

The Barack Obama revolution is signed, sealed and delivered. Though there are some among us who might disagree with that characterization. Nonetheless, there’s no doubt in my mind, Barack Obama has wrought irreversible changes to the fundamentals of becoming president of the greatest nation in the world. That’s a revolution—inspired and implemented on a foundation of Love and Respect for all Mankind. Though, more than two hundred years coming—but then, that’s what makes revolutions necessary!

As with all revolutions--this was no accident!

In a Messianic manner, the man destined to become the 44th President of the United States went about execution of his vision with an equal amount compassion --and passion. Therefore, he adroitly found a means to deal with those who understood his methodology and those who disagreed as well. In the process, we all learned of his willingness to seek resolve through political coalition and consensus before resorting to political contention and confusion. I’m also impressed that Barack Obama will more than likely demand a moral purpose and performance of himself, first and foremost.

Going forward, we should all pray that President Barack Hussien Obama keeps in mind the accomplishments of other thinkers who comprised our vanguard before he made us aware of his talents. It goes without mentioning here: “The skinny kid with the funny name” has migrated to a stellar plateau of greatness. One that’s
occupied by a select few who were ready to answer the messianic call of sacrifice for the betterment of mankind. His name also will hang from the skies along with the likes of : John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Ghandhi, Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks, et al.

We should all remember that it was Shirley Chisholm, a little dark-skinned congresswoman from Brooklyn, New York, who alerted us in 1972 that it was our privilege and responsibility, as citizens of this great nation, to seek the highest level of participation in its government. And, later Reverend Jesse Jackson, made two attempts to win nomination for president on the democratic ticket in 1984 and 1988. He, a big strapping former football player and she, a former school teacher—it didn’t matter—in this free nation the constitution allows it.
