Watch McCain make peace with Letterman, who then grills him a little and brings up G. Gordon Liddy -- over on Lynn Sweet's blog today!

McCain's appearance brought Letterman his biggest audience in nearly three years.

Nielsen Media Research says 6.5 million viewers watched, nearly 3 million more than Letterman typically gets. It was Letterman's biggest night since a December 2005 appearance by someone else he's had tense times with -- Oprah Winfrey.

Letterman at his very best!!! Especially in the 2nd half of the McCain interview! Good to see that both -at least somewhat- kept their sense of humor in all of this though.
