Patrick Swayze is not only faring well with his cancer treatment, he's been cleared to go back to work. Which means he'll be back in Chicago soon to film his debut season of the A&E FBI drama, "The Beast."
His doctors have OK'd the "Dirty Dancing" star to return to his acting duties, plus A&E has ordered a full season of 13 hourlong episodes for the series.
Production begins this summer — with some scenes shot here in Chicago, as was the pilot last December — and episodes to start airing early next year.
Swayze, 55, says he's excted to tackle this character, an unorthodox FBI agent. "I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this mutilayered, unpredictable and downright entertaining, as well as a project this current and cutting-edged," he said in a statement.
“Chicago is an amazing, untapped city. I can’t wait to get to work on this,” the actor added.

Mr. Patrick Swayze is an inspiration to many people. Keep up the good spirit. May you experience a blessing from above. Your movies will endure forever! Thank you Patrick and may God bless you.
This is fabulous news both for Swayze and for Chicago. It will be great to hopefully see him out and about, and it's so encouraging to hear how well he's doing.
Of course, my favorite role of Swayze's is Johnny in "Dirty Dancing," but I've also enjoyed him in several projects including "Road House," "Point Break" and "Ghost."
Don't forget Red Dawn and King Solomons Mines.
patrick needs to get to lourds in france he dwill be cured and need to fast and stay for 10 days of prayer alone at the shrine
Mr. Swayze and his family have been in my prayers since I first read of his condition.
I don't believe that there is a movie that he has been in that I didn't really enjoy.
But, I have a particular favorite. It may not be his? But I felt that it sent a powerful message as well as making me laugh and cry. To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar.
