This season's "Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs. Favorites" will go down as the season of injuries and idiots, and poor, young, naive Erik, a 22-year-old ice-cream scooper from Michigan, likely will be crowned King of the Idiots for giving up immunity at Tribal Council.
What started out as kind of boring installment of the CBS reality show has turned out to be one of the most unpredictably excellent seasons to date.
To recap Thursday's episode: Five people were left vying for the title of "Sole Survivor," and Erik was the lone male. Erik won immunity, again, which means he was safe from being voted off the island. Safe!
But never underestimate the power of four intelligent women. What they lacked in strength to beat Erik in a mostly physical challenge they made up for with ingenuity and, well, cojones.
Cutthroat Natalie balked when the other three women — Amanda, Parvati and Cirie — suggested she ask Erik to bestow his immunity to her at Tribal Council, as a gesture of goodwill for lying to all of them earlier. "Seriously, WHO would do that?" she said to them, shocked that they would even think she would ask.
Well, she asked and at Tribal Council, HE DID IT!!! Dumbest. Move. Ever.
Guess who was voted out? The reactions of the Tribal Council jury were worth the price of tuning in.
Bravo, ladies. Bravo.
All the women look to have an equal shot at the million-dollar prize, but my money's on Cirie, who has quietly masterminded most of the game-turning moves this season.
The two-hour season finale airs at 7 p.m. Sunday on WBBM-Channel 2, with a reunion show to follow at 9 p.m.
