July 2008 Archives

Mundelein author Gary Buslik has traveled all over the Caribbean.

He's detailed the funniest of his exploits in his new book, "A Rotten Person Travels the Caribbean." It's seriously, LOL funny.

I did a Q&A with Buslik that ran in the July 23 issue of the Sun-Times. I didn't have the space to run it all, so here's the rest of it....

Billed as the World's Greatest Aviation Celebration, EAA AirVenture is scheduled for take off July 28 in Oshkosh, Wis., about a three-hour drive from Chicago.

The ginormous event at Wittman Regional Airport attracts more than 625,000 aviation enthusiasts and 10,000 aircraft. A slew of activities will take place through Aug. 3.

Visitors will get to witness a world-record attempt by the Nemesis NXT "Speed Blast" rocket, exhibitions of the Rocket Racing League (Indy cars in the sky), introduction of world's first practical jetpack and view the world's first aircraft running on 100 percent biodiesel fuel.

Oh yeah, and Harrison Ford and John Travolta will be there, too. And a concert by Foreigner will wrap up high-flying opening day, July 28.

Do you wear contact lenses?

Do you try to always carry on your luggage when you fly?

Are you sick of getting ripped off when you buy those 2 ounce and 4 ounce bottles of contact lens solution so you can meet the liquid requirements for carry on luggage?

Me too!

And I just found out that I DON'T HAVE TO WASTE MY MONEY ON THOSE LITTLE BOTTLES.
