Billed as the World's Greatest Aviation Celebration, EAA AirVenture is scheduled for take off July 28 in Oshkosh, Wis., about a three-hour drive from Chicago.
The ginormous event at Wittman Regional Airport attracts more than 625,000 aviation enthusiasts and 10,000 aircraft. A slew of activities will take place through Aug. 3.
Visitors will get to witness a world-record attempt by the Nemesis NXT "Speed Blast" rocket, exhibitions of the Rocket Racing League (Indy cars in the sky), introduction of world's first practical jetpack and view the world's first aircraft running on 100 percent biodiesel fuel.
Oh yeah, and Harrison Ford and John Travolta will be there, too. And a concert by Foreigner will wrap up high-flying opening day, July 28.
