OBAMA FOR AMERICA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

July 13, 2012

DAILY CAMPAIGN GUIDANCE FOR

SATURDAY, JULY 14, 2012

CHICAGO - On Saturday, July 14, President Obama will finish a two-day barnstorm across Virginia, where he will discuss the choice in this election between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt. The President believes the only way to build an economy meant to last is to build it from the middle out, not the top down. He will discuss his plan to restore middle class security by paying down our debt in a balanced way that ensures everyone pays their fair share and still invests in the things we need to create jobs and grow our economy over the long term, like education, energy, innovation, and infrastructure.

The President also will repeat his call on Congress to act now to give middle class families some certainty by preventing a scheduled tax increase on 98 percent on Americans, including families across Virginia. President Obama has already cut middle-class taxes to benefit every working family, saving typical Virginia family about $4,000 during his first term--helping them send their kids to college, buy new homes, and pay for health care and child care.

In Virginia, the President's middle-class tax cuts are already having an impact on millions of families.

· The Making Work Pay Tax Credit allowed an estimated 2.9 million working Virginia families to receive a collective $1.5 billion in tax relief in 2010.

· The payroll tax credit provided an estimated 4.3 million Virginia workers $3.3 billion in tax relief 2011.

· And the American Opportunity Tax Credit provided an estimated 231,000 Virginia students and their families an average of $2,100 tax credit towards their tuition expenses in 2011.

1:00 PM EDT THE PRESIDENT delivers remarks at A Vision for Virginia's Middle Class Event in Glen Allen, Virginia

4:15 PM EDT THE PRESIDENT delivers remarks on a Vision for Virginia's Middle Class Event in Centreville, Virginia
