Romney stumps in Vernon Hills Sunday. My first beat!

CHICAGO--Mitt Romney on Saturday night is in Collinsville and Sunday hits three major Illinois media markets with stops in Moline, Rockford and Vernon Hills, the Lake County suburb outside of Chicago. Rick Santorum is on a downstate Illinois swing Saturday with the rivals in-state as Illinois heads to the Tuesday presidential primary.

And-- personal indulgence coming--I want to note that Vernon Hills was the first beat I ever covered--way back when-- for the now long defunct Libertyville Independent-Register newspaper. Romney holds a town hall in the Vernon Hills Sullivan Community Center-- named for a woman I covered, Dolores Sullivan, who founded the Vernon Hills Park District. Her husband, John, way back when, was a Vernon Hills trustee.
