RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Statement on the Illinois Primary Election

WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement regarding the results of the Illinois primary:

"I want to congratulate Mitt Romney on his victory tonight in Illinois. I also want to thank all of our candidates for their work to save America from a second term of Barack Obama," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

"Across the country, Americans are ready for a new direction. They want an end to Obamanomics and ObamaCare and all of the president's failed policies and broken promises.

"Today, Illinois voters made their voices heard. Even in President Obama's home state, voters are ready for a new president. With the cost of gas, groceries, and healthcare increasing, they know we need new leadership in the White House. We cannot afford four more years of Obama's big government tax-and-spend agenda.

"Republicans are committed to pro-growth, free market solutions. Unlike President Obama, we support lower taxes and efficient, effective government. In November, Americans can vote for those priorities. We can put a Republican in the White House and put Americans back to work."
