Below, from the Democratic National Committee....
As Republican voters in Maryland get ready for the state's GOP primary, Mitt Romney is trying to appeal to moderate Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, especially women. But it's important that these voters know just how far Mitt Romney has gone to pander to the right wing of his party.
The DNC released a new web video today to highlight Romney's extreme positions on women's health.
Make no mistake: Mitt Romney has become the most extreme candidate on issues affecting women in this country.
Romney vowed to "get rid of" Planned Parenthood and has gone as far as promising to overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling, calling it "one of the darkest moments in Supreme Court history."
He also recently declared his support for the Blunt-Rubio Amendment, which would allow any employer to drop coverage for health care services like contraception because of personal beliefs. The Blunt-Rubio Amendment is dangerous, and it's an extreme attack on the rights of women to make decisions about their health for themselves.
Romney has also said he supports so-called "personhood" amendments. Voters in Mississippi rejected such an amendment last November, and we know that others are sprouting up around the country. These extreme and divisive measures would ban all abortions, many forms of birth control, and even in vitro fertilization.
These are just some of the many outrageous positions that Mitt Romney has taken on issues affecting women across the country - all of which are part of Romney's shameless race to the far right.
Mitt Romney can't hide the truth from voters in Maryland and across the country. He is wrong for women and he can't be trusted to protect women's access to healthcare.
