Rep. Joe Walsh at Obama White House Holiday party

Updates with Walsh chief of staff comment about White House party and Walsh Thursday announcement about his political future....

WASHINGTON--Tea Party Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.)-- who boycotted President Obama's jobs speech, said Obama should "quit lying" and that the president "got no shame," attended a White House Holiday party Monday hosted by President Obama and First Lady Michelle with his wife Helene. waited in line with his wife Monday at the White House for a photo with Obama and First Lady Michelle.

The Obamas are hosting a series of holiday parties and Monday was the night where members of Congress were invited to welcome the holiday season.

Someone who was at the party tipped me that Walsh was there and was in the photo line.

Update 1 regarding the photo line: Justin Roth, Walsh's chief of staff told me Walsh was at the White House holiday party but was not in the photo line and "most definitely" did "not take a picture with the president...did not meet him." End Update 1

Monday came and went with no word from Walsh over whether he would he make a 2012 re-election bid from the new 14th district, which he had announced he was going to do--thrusting him in a GOP primary with Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.) or run from the new 8th, a move he has been exploring. The 8th, drawn in the new map to be a Democratic district, has no well known Republican running. Democrats Raja Krishnamoorthi and Tammy Duckworth are locked in a primary battle.

Walsh signaled on Saturday he would have an announcement on Monday, but he did not. Maybe he is weighing a third option.

Update 2 Walsh's campaign on Tuesday afternoon said in release Walsh will announce his political plans Thursday night at a Tea Party meeting in Chicago. Click HERE for my post on the Thursday announcement. End Update 2
