Mayor Emanuel will discuss the Administration's ongoing efforts to ensure every child in Chicago receives a world-class education during the Gates Foundation Conference on District-Charter Collaboration.

Mayor Emanuel will deliver the opening remarks at "Connecting Communities for the Common Good," an event co-hosted with the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships to discuss how all levels of government can partner with nonprofit organizations to create jobs, promote economic development, prevent youth violence and promote healthy communities.

Mayor Emanuel will announce a $1 million microlending program, the first of its kind in the nation for small businesses, the backbone of Chicago's economy. The Mayor will provide details about the program, which will fund at least 280 small businesses and create more than 1000 small business jobs.
