Remembrance ceremony for the 23rd anniversary of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 is open for media coverage
WHAT: A remembrance ceremony to honor the 270 individuals who died from the Pan Am flight 103 terrorist attack on Dec. 21, 1988.
The ceremony is an annual tradition carried out by the non-profit organization, The Victims of Pan Am Flight 103. The ceremony will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at the Memorial Cairn. The Memorial Cairn was dedicated at Arlington National Cemetery on Nov. 5, 1995 to honor and remember the victims of the Pan Am Flight 103 terrorist attack.
WHEN: Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. (Meet on Memorial Drive at 1 p.m. for an escort.).
Members of The Victims of Pan Am Flight 103 will speak, as well as the U.S.
Attorney General, Eric Holder and the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Robert Mueller.
A moment of silence will occur at 2:03 p.m., followed by the reading of names of those who perished as a result of the bombing.
The choir from Pender Methodist Church from Fairfax, Va., will perform at the ceremony.
