WASHINGTON--Women are stingy when it comes to political giving in the 2012 presidential campaign, according to a new study by the Center for Responsive Politics. President Obama does the best with women when it comes to campaign contributions.
The analysis confirms what professional political fund-raisers know: compared to men, it is very hard to get women to write checks to campaigns. Women donated about 27.6 percent of all campaign cash, the center estimated.
Findings from the Center for Responsive Politics, based on disclosure reports of donations over $200:
percent female contributors
16.1 percent Ron Paul
25.1 percent Herman Cain
29.6 percent Mitt Romney
32.3 percent Rick Santorum
33.5 percent Rick Perry
43.8 percent President Obama
