Rosie O'Donnell show debuts today. Welcome to Chicago, tour political sites

WASHINGTON--Rosie O'Donnell's new "The Rosie Show," taped in Chicago--in Oprah Winfrey's studio--debuts today and its cool to see how she bought a house in Lincoln Park and is embracing her new city. O'Donnell seems delighted with Chicago and is looking for people to show her around. I have some suggestions for her below if she wants to see some politics in action. (Sun-Times reporter Kara Spak sat in on some Rosie show tapings, read her report HERE)

O'Donnell's observations about Chicago on her blog read like Carl Sandburg on Twitter:

i have fallen in love with this city
and it came as a surprise
shocking - really
i knew nothing of chicago

its beauty is startling
the wide clean streets
smiling hellos
the buckingham fountain took my breath away

The Rosie Show is asking fans to "Show me Chicago:"

"Hey Chicagoans! We need your expertise. Help us show Rosie (and the world!) what Chicago has to offer. Tell us what you think are the MUST-SEE attractions, the MUST-TRY restaurants, and the little-known gems that Rosie cannot miss out on while she's here."

My starter suggestions for a Rosie O'Donnell whirl around political Chicago:

*A stop at President Obama's re-election headquarters in the Prudential Building.

*A visit to City Hall on a City Council meeting day, to check out the City Council chamber, the green grass roof and see Mayor Emanuel presiding over 50 aldermen.
