WASHINGTON--Republic of Korea President Lee Myung-bak heads to Chicago on Friday, the day after he is honored at the White House at a State Dinner hosted by President Obama and First Lady Michelle.
"I look forward to welcoming President Lee in Chicago," said Emanuel in a statement."President Lee's visit will highlight the strong commitment to education and innovation, close partnership and deep economic ties between Chicago and the
Republic of Korea. It will also be an opportunity to celebrate the rich bonds of friendship between Chicagoans and the Korean people."
Emanuel will host President Lee at a dinner at the Chicago Cultural Center.
Emanuel as of Sunday was not planning on attending the State Dinner.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel will host President Lee Myung-bak of the Republic of Korea in
Chicago on October 14th. This will be President Lee's first visit to Chicago.
