WASHINGTON--Zeke Emanuel, a former White House health policy advisor, and brother of Chicago Mayor Rahm and Hollywood agent Ari, starts a new job on Thursday, at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine and the Wharton School.
Emanuel's title: the Diane v.S. Levy and Robert M. Levy University Professor and vice provost for global initiatives.
An oncologist with a bioethics speciality, Emanuel took leave from his job at the National Institutes of Health Bioethics department to join the Obama White House as a health policy advisor. He is a former North Side Chicago resident.
Emanuel worked on the Obama health care legislation and on First Lady Michelle's anti-obesity program. Earlier this year, he left the West Wing to return to the NIH. Emanuel has also become a regular contributor to the New York Times op-ed page.
