REP. JESSE L. JACKSON, JR TO TRAVEL TO ISRAEL

Will Meet Top Israeli & Palestinian Leaders

U. S. Representative Jesse L. Jackson, Jr. (D-IL-2) will again travel to Israel
on Sunday, August 7 to gain further understanding of some of America's most
pressing foreign policy challenges. Rep. Jackson will learn more about the
U.S.-Israel relationship, the peace process, Israel's security situation,
Palestinian concerns and important political and economic trends in the region.
He will meet with senior Israeli and Palestinian leaders and explore
opportunities for bilateral economic and technological cooperation with the
Israeli business community.

"I particularly look forward to learning more about the latest tools and
technology Israel is using in its fight against terror and its dynamic business
and commercial sectors," said Jackson. "I also plan on discussing the quest for
a lasting peace in the region with a wide variety of leaders across the spectrum
- Israelis, Palestinians, religious figures, opposition members and ordinary
citizens." Rep. Jackson is scheduled to meet with the Honorable Shimon Peres,
President of Israel, the Honorable Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel,
the Honorable Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority and the
Honorable Salam Fayyad, Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority and many
others.

The trip is being arranged by the American Israel Educational Foundation (AIEF),
a charity affiliated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
AIEF Israel seminars are considered among the most substantive, rigorous and
valuable opportunities for members of Congress to learn about the U.S.-Israel
relationship. The trip is paid for by AIEF, which is privately funded by
American citizens.

Rep. Jackson will return on Monday, August 15.
