The scoop from Washington

Rahm Emanuel public schedule, Aug. 3, 2011. ThinkChicago/Chicago Ideas Week

In case you are wondering why Mayor Rahm Emanuel's public schedule does not include the fund-raiser tonight in Chicago with President Obama---his schedule is issued by City Hall and does not include his political events. That's the reason Emanuel's recent trip to New York to headline an Obama fund-raiser was not made public, though it was known and reported. Obama's public schedule--also put together at taxpayer expense--includes selected government events and all fund-raisers.

Below, from City Hall.....

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Brad Keywell, co-founder of Groupon and Lightbank and founder of Chicago Ideas Week, will discuss Chicago Ideas Week and announce an innovative new program to attract the best and brightest young minds to Chicago.

WHEN: 11:00 AM

WHERE: 600 W. Chicago Avenue
Chicago, IL *

* There will be a media availability following this event.
