DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2011
In the morning, the President will visit Northern Virginia Community College Alexandria Campus and deliver remarks to highlight the importance of training and preparing our workforce to compete for manufacturing jobs across our country. Preparing Americans to enter into the manufacturing sector will not only strengthen the economy and put Americans back to work, it's critical to our nation's success as we compete in a 21st century global economy. There will be travel pool coverage of the visit. The President's remarks are pooled for TV and still photographers and open to pre-credentialed correspondents.
In the afternoon, the President will meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.
Later in the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet for lunch in the Private Dining Room. This lunch is closed press.
Later, the President will deliver remarks at an event honoring Auburn University's football team's 2010 BCS National Championship in the East Room. The President's remarks are open press. The visit will also continue the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to communities as well as for winning championships. As part of their visit to the White House, the Auburn Tigers will meet with local Washington, D.C. area students.
Later, the President will meet with President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria in the Oval Office. The President will consult with President Jonathan on the latest regional and global developments, and deepening our strong bilateral partnership. There will be a stills only pool spray at the top of the meeting.
