WASHINGTON--With President Obama visiting CIA headquarters on Friday to thank the agency for helping to track down Osama bin Laden, Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) used the announcement to call on Obama to end probes of CIA interrogators.
Said Kirk,"When the President visits the CIA on Friday, he should announce the end of the Justice Department's unwarranted investigations of CIA interrogators. These Americans did their jobs at the direction of the President of the United States and this politically motivated investigation will have a chilling effect on the work of their colleagues and other national security professionals in the U.S. Government."
White House press secretary Jay Carney on Wednesday said Obama will make the trip to the Langley, VA. CIA headquarters. Said Carney, "Friday President Obama will visit CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, to meet with a broad range of the intelligence community, to thank them for the work they do every day to keep America safe and specifically for their excellent work in tracking down Osama bin Laden."
