CHICAGO--Before President Obama speaks at a Navy Pier fund-raiser here on Thursday--one of three to kick off his 2012 re-election fund-raising drive--his former chief-of-staff, Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel will introduce him. And White House Senior Advisor David Plouffe, Obama's 2008 campaign manager, will introduce Emanuel.
As I reported already, the Navy Pier program includes Bulls stars present and past--Derrick Rose and B.J. Armstrong--and a performance by singer Colbie Cailat. Bulls star center Joakim Noah will also be attending.
(Noah is a French-American and his father was just in the news for getting Neo-Nazi death threats: Yannick Noah, the father of Bulls' center Joakim Noah, said he was the target of death threats and racial slurs from neo-Nazis prior to playing a concert in France, a French newspaper reported on Sunday.)
Obama has three events in Chicago, expected to haul in millions of dollars for his Obama 2012 campaign and the Democratic National Committee, followed by other big funders in San Francisco and Los Angeles on April 20 and 21 and New York on April 27. Obama and First Lady Michelle will be in Chicago during the day on April 27 taping an Oprah Winfrey show.
In Chicago, Obama 2012/DNC is organizing:
♦ A $35,800-per-person dinner at the MK Restaurant.
♦ Another dinner with tickets from $5,000 to $15,000 at N9NE Steakhouse.
♦ A large reception at the Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier with tickets as low as $100.
