Obama in Chicago: Navy Pier late night with Derrick Rose, Ernie Banks

CHICAGO--President Obama travels to Chicago Thursday afternoon after a jammed day in Washington--meeting with Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson who led his fiscal commission-- and Amir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani of Qatar. Obama wraps up the long day at a 9:30 p.m. fund-raiser at Navy Pier, his third of the day.

Obama will haul--my ballpark estimate--some $2 million from the three events for the joint Democratic National Committee and Obama 2012 operation named the Obama Victory Fund. The price tags run from $100 to $35,800 per person.

From a Democratic source:
225 guests at events where the cheapest ticket is $5,000 and the most expensive is $35,800. (no breakdown provided)

2,000 folks at Navy Pier, with the lowest price ticket is $100. Announced Thursday morning: Ernie Banks, "Mr. Cub," will be at the Navy Pier event, whose celeb guests include Bulls Star Derrick Rose. Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel will introduce Obama and White House Senior Advisor David Plouffe introduces Emanuel.

Obama 2012 campaign manager Jim Messina: reports of $1 billion 2012 goal "baseless." My story here.

The tick toc, according to the White House:

4:20PM est Obama departs Andrews Air Force Base en route Chicago.

Chicago time:

5:10PM Obama arrives Chicago O'Hare International Airport

6:25PM Obama delivers remarks at event N9NE Restaurant

7:35PM Obama delivers remarks at event MK Restaurant

9:30PM Obama delivers remarks at event Navy Pier
