During a January 15, 2011 appearance on the Roe Conn Show with Richard Roeper, Emanuel announced he would make a $5,000 personal contribution to the charity of the then-unknown Twitter author's choice if they would disclose their identity.

"Here's what I'm gonna do. After the election, I am offering a donation to the charity of that gentleman or woman's choice, if they would come forward and identify themselves," Emanuel said during the appearance.

WLS-AM's Roe Conn says the charity, to be announced during the check presentation, is, "a worthy and deserving local organization."

Sinker, an assistant journalism professor at Columbia College, choreographed a satirical story surrounding Emanuel's campaign for Chicago mayor on social media website Twitter. Sinker revealed his identity on Monday, February 28, 2011.

Causes.com will also match Emanuel's donation with a $5,000 check to the charity of Sinker's choice.
