WASHINGTON--First Lady Michelle Obama will oversee the third Spring planting of her White House kitchen garden on Wednesday. The last Spring planting was March 31, 2010.

UPDATE: The report below--from an Irish news site---that Mrs. Obama has requested shamrock seeds for the garden--is not true, according to Mrs. Obama spokesman Katie McCormick Lelyveld. "It didn't originate from our office or the kitchen" she said. END UPDATE

And with St. Patrick's Day this week--with a White House reception to mark the occasion-- an Irish news outlet is reporting that Mrs. Obama has requested shamrock seeds for the garden.
