Jeremy Bernard, incoming White House Social Secretary: A snapshot

WASHINGTON--Incoming White House Social Secretary Jeremy Bernard won't land in town for a bit--he's the chief of staff to the U.S. Ambassador to France, in Paris. A profile of Bernard, 49, on NPR shows that the road to the Obama White House started with his energetic fund-raising during the 2008 campaign, dealing skillfully with major donors who are used to being treated well.

The next big special event at the White House is the St. Patrick's Day celebration, with the mega Easter Roll coming up next month. Bernard replaces Julianna Smoot, who is departing to become deputy campaign manager of the Obama 2012 re-elect campaign.
