Pelosi Statement on President Reagan's 100th Birthday.....

Washington, D.C. - Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in honor of President Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday, which is Sunday.

"On his 100th birthday, we honor President Reagan's service and express gratitude for his character. He understood the value of bipartisanship and civility in all our debates. He was proud of his friendships on both sides of the aisle. His legacy is a source of particular pride to Californians.

"We also honor Mrs. Reagan, the other half of one of the great love stories of our time. In recent years, Mrs. Reagan has turned that love into action, speaking out powerfully on the issue of stem cell research, giving hope to many.

"President Reagan understood the importance of projecting American values abroad. As he said, we must 'not only preserve the flame of freedom, but cast its warmth and light further than those who came before us.'

"We honor President Reagan's patriotism and express appreciation for his service."
