DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19, 2011

In the morning, the President and the First Lady will welcome President Hu Jintao of China to the White House. The Vice President and Dr. Biden will also attend. The official arrival ceremony on the South Lawn is open to pre-credentialed press. The deadline to request media credentials has passed.

**Please note that this event is currently outdoors and press coverage is subject to change depending on the weather. If inclement weather requires this event to be moved inside, updated guidance will be sent at approximately 6:00AM tomorrow.**

Later, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with President Hu in the Oval Office. The Vice President will also attend. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting. The President will then hold an expanded bilateral meeting with President Hu and the Official U.S. and Official Chinese Delegations in the Cabinet Room. This meeting is closed press.

Tomorrow afternoon, President Obama will host a meeting with President Hu and business leaders at the White House to discuss the economic relationship with China. President Obama will highlight the importance of increasing exports to China, a key part of our National Export Initiative, and of increasing investment in the United States -- both critical to supporting millions of American jobs. The President will be joined by business leaders from the United States and from Chinese firms that have made investments in the United States. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting.

The list of American and Chinese business leaders expected to attend is below. Other administration officials who will be in attendance at the meeting include Secretaries Geithner and Locke, Chief of Staff Bill Daley, Ambassador Ron Kirk, National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, National Economic Council Director Gene Sperling, Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs Mike Froman, and Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett.

In the afternoon, The President will hold a joint press conference with President Hu in the East Room. The press conference is open to pre-credentialed press, however the deadline to request media credentials has passed.

In the evening, the President and the First Lady will welcome President Hu at the North Portico. This arrival is pooled for TV and correspondents and open to pre-credentialed still photographers. The deadline to request media credentials has passed. The President and the First Lady will then take the official photo with President Hu on the Grand Staircase. This is pooled press.

Later, the President and the First Lady will host a State Dinner in honor of President Hu. The Vice President and Dr. Biden will also attend. The President and President Hu will each give a toast. The toast remarks during the dinner are pooled press. Following the dinner, the President and the First Lady will attend the State Dinner Reception with President Hu in the East Room. There will be pooled press coverage of this event.

In the morning, the Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden will join the President and the First Lady to welcome President Hu Jintao of China to the White House.

Later, the Vice President will attend the President's bilateral meeting with President Hu in the Oval Office. Afterwards, the Vice President will attend the President's expanded bilateral meeting with President Hu and the Official U.S. and Chinese Delegations in the Cabinet Room.

At 2:30 PM, the Vice President, Dr. Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will host a lunch in honor of President Hu at the State Department. The Vice President's toast remarks at the top of the lunch are pooled press.

In the evening, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will attend the State Dinner in honor of President Hu at the White House. Following the dinner, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will attend the State Dinner Reception.
