WASHINGTON--The House is headed to a vote on the DREAM Act this week in the lame duck session. Whether the measure, to allow students in the U.S. illegally to stay, can pass is still not clear. The DREAM Act faces a tough time in the Senate.

Soldier to Call for Sensible Immigration and
Deportation Policies
(Washington, DC) - Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez will join National Guard soldier Hector Nunez, his attorneys, and supporters to announce the filing of a petition for a humanitarian visa to allow Hector to be reunited with his wife and one year old son before he deploys to Afghanistan. The "Hector Nunez Story" (attached to this advisory) is one of millions of similar stories of families divided by deportation or separated because of overly restrictive immigration laws.
