QUINN/SIMON FOR ILLINOIS RELEASES AD FEATURING PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA
CHICAGO--The Quinn/Simon campaign today released a radio ad featuring President Barack Obama.
The advertisement highlights Governor Quinn's 40-year career as a reformer, his record of job creation, and his commitment to education and public safety.
"I know Pat Quinn. Over the years, I've seen firsthand his courage to take on powerful interests, his character to do what's right, and his commonsense that's getting our state moving again," says President Obama in the ad. "He's fighting to create jobs, strengthen our schools, and protect our neighborhoods."
The ad, which coincides with the start of Early Voting in Illinois, is part of the push by the White House to support of the Quinn/Simon ticket. The ad will air in a number of markets across the state, predominantly in Chicago, beginning Monday, October 11, 2010.
On Tuesday, Vice-President Joe Biden will appear at a "Putting Illinois Back to Work" rally hosted by the campaign in Chicago. Tuesday's rally is at the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local 130; doors open at 4:00pm and close at 5:00pm.
A audio clip of the advertisement is available here.
Transcript of the President Obama's radio ad for the Quinn/Simon campaign:
This is President Barack Obama calling on behalf of Pat Quinn. In all my experience, one lesson stands out: if you want change, you have to get involved. Today, across the country and here in Illinois our communities face serious threats. There's a real push to force us back to the failed policies of the past. We can't let them get away with it. We need to vote, and vote for Governor Pat Quinn.
I know Pat Quinn. Over the years, I've seen firsthand his courage to take on powerful interests, his character to do what's right, and his commonsense that's getting our state moving again. He's fighting to create jobs, strengthen our schools, and protect our neighborhoods.
On Election Day, I've voting for my friend, Pat Quinn, and I hope you'll join me. We can't afford to stay home - because the best thing you can do for me in the White House is to vote to keep Pat Quinn Governor. Thank you.

There's a very ggod reason why extremist Republican Bill Brady only speaks in vague platitudes about what he'd do to balance the IL budget etc. He'll do exactly what the Republican Party of No New Ideas always does - lower the minumum wage, out source public services to wealthy right wing multi billion dollar corporations and give tax cuts to millionaires. Spending is the same as it ever was in IL. The reason states all over the country are broke right now is because the Bush Republicans spent eight years of this past decade giving tax cuts to billionaires, mega corporations and big oil (twice), on top of starting an unnecessary war in Iraq that has cost the American taxpayers $3 trillion and counting.
