below, pool report.....
First family takes a boat ride in Frenchman Bay; no news.
At about 4:30 p.m., pool was escorted from POTUS hotel to a 42-foot
lobsterboat sitting at a dock at the back of the hotel. While awaiting
POTUS, pool was taken for a slow boat ride around Frenchman Bay, during
which pool learned that 60 to 70 percent of lobster consumed in the U.S.
comes from Maine, according to the boat's guides.
Then, pool received word at 5:08 p.m. that the first family had set off
into the bay on a small National Park Service boat.
Under thickly-clouded skies and with a chilly but pleasant breeze, POTUS'
boat headed out in a southeast direction into the steel-blue waters. Pool
was able to make out the first family and Valerie Jarrett on the boat.
Several Maine Marine Patrol and Coast Guard boats followed.
About a half hour later, POTUS' boat docked at a downtown part of Bar
Harbor down the street from his hotel. From pool's vantage on the pier,
POTUS could be seen with his arm around Malia. FLOTUS was sitting to POTUS'
right, and Sasha was sitting next to Valerie Jarrett on the other side of
the boat. They all waved at the scores of onlookers gathered on the pier.
The first family and Jarrett are now down the street from the docks, having
dinner at a restaurant called Stewman's not far from the corner of Main and
West Streets. Pool is holding at a separate restaurant.
