DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
THURSDAY, JULY 22, 2010
In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and the Economic Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. The President will then meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.
Later in the morning, the President will deliver remarks and sign the Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Act in the State Dining Room. Each year, the federal government wastes billions of American taxpayers' dollars on improper payments to individuals, organizations, and contractors. These are payments made in the wrong amount, to the wrong person, or for the wrong reason. In 2009, improper payments totaled nearly $110 billion, the highest amount to date. This event is pooled for TV and open to correspondents.
In the afternoon, the President will meet with General Odierno and Ambassador Hill in the Oval Office. Later, the President will meet with Secretary of the Treasury Geithner in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.
