WASHINGTON--Eleven states hold primary contests on Tuesday; for an overview on the races, check out Carl Cannon's piece at Politics Daily. Illinois voters went to the polls on Feb. 2, for the first-in-the-nation primary of the 2010 mid-term cycle. For a lot of other states, nominees for the November mid-terms will be determined today.
Most important, says Cannon: "The most crucial contests Tuesday are statewide gubernatorial and Senate races in South Carolina, Arkansas, Nevada, and California. The rest of the Tuesday calendar, looking at the map east to west, features elections in Virginia, New Jersey, and Maine; Iowa and the Dakotas in the Midwest; and the mountain state redoubt of Montana."
