WASHINGTON--After speaking at Camp Pendleton on Sunday, First Lady Michelle Obama flew to Los Angeles for dinner with daughters Malia, 11, and Sasha, who celebrated her 9th birthday on June 10. Obamafoodorama has the scoop: "Accompanied by daughters Malia and Sasha, and four other adults, Mrs. Obama dined at Lucques, a restaurant that's beloved in town not only for its excellent, ever-changing menu, but also for its commitment to sustainable sourcing. An employee who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the visit," Obamafoodorama reported.

And more from Obamafoodorama, the web site of record when it comes to the Obama White House and food: "After dinner, Chef Goin also got a special hello and thank you from Mrs. Obama."She stopped by the kitchen on her way out to say thank you and speak with the chef," Secret Ops noted of the First Lady. "The whole party was very gracious, just very, very gracious."

Mrs. Obama is off for the week; daughters Malia and Sasha ended school for the year last week.

That place was $45 a person! Good holy grief.

I'm trying to figure out why this was so important that it was newsworthy. The First Lady and daughters. with friends, spent the evening celebrating her daughter's birthday. Yes, they ate in a high end restaurant. I cannot remember reading on where Former First Lady and her daughters dined. With all the challenges facing our country, this doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
