WASHINGTON--Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup, bringing home a championship to Chicago. Can't wait they get their trip to the White House; President Obama has been meeting with all the championship teams. The team arrived back home in Chicago early Thursday; big parade on Friday.
Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) plays hockey and his statement came "live from Philadelphia", where the Blackhawks clinched: "It hasn't sunk in yet, because I didn't see the puck go into the net. But we exorcised the demons of Lemaire in 1971 tonight, and I'm the happiest guy in Philadelphia right now. 49 years of frustration are gone, just like that. Congratulations to all the guys on and off the ice who made this happen. This is the greatest game in the world.
"Let's Go Hawks."
Rep. Melissa Bean (D-Ill.) last night posted on her Facebook page, "I'm inviting over other Members of Congress from Illinois and Pennsylvania to my Congressional office to watch Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight. Let's see if any of our Flyers friends are willing to show up to watch the Hawks put it away."
