Biden hits Chicago for Giannoulias, Seals fund-raisers

Vice President Biden hits Michigan on Monday to discuss the Recovery Act and then heads to Chicago to headline back-to-back fundraisers at the Union League Club for Democrats Dan Seals, running for the open 10th district House seat and Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias, the state treasurer. Here's my wrap up and overview on the Illinois Senate race--and the challenges facing Kirk and Giannoulias. Today in Chicago, the two rivals--in separate sessions-- talk about environmental and planning issues at a forum sponsored by the Metropolitan Planning Council.

DAILY GUIDANCE FOR THE VICE PRESIDENT

Monday, June 21, 2010

In the morning, the Vice President will travel to Midland, Michigan, to discuss how Recovery Act investments are strengthening communities in Michigan and creating jobs across the country. At 10:30 AM ET, the Vice President will visit the site where Dow Kokam is breaking ground on a new advanced battery manufacturing facility funded, in part, by the Recovery Act. Dow Kokam received a $161 million Recovery Act advanced battery grant from the Department of Energy. This investment will help Dow Kokam manufacture advanced and highly-efficient batteries for the emerging electric-vehicle industry, create jobs in Midland, and stimulate economic activity across Michigan. The Vice President will be joined by Governor Jennifer Granholm, Senator Carl Levin,
Senator Debbie Stabenow, and officials from Dow Kokam and The Dow Chemical Company. This event is open press.

Afterwards, the Vice President will travel to Chicago, Illinois. At 12:30 PM CT, the Vice President will attend an event for Congressional candidate Dan Seals. At 2:00 PM CT, the Vice President will attend an event for Senatorial candidate Alexi Giannoulias.

The Vice President will then return to Washington, DC.
